Eating Less Red Meat

Weighed in this morning at 155 pounds, no change from yesterday.

I started the day yesterday with my usual serving of kefir, but with an avocado. For lunch it was fruit and vegetables consisting of prunes, strawberries, sweet peppers, and celery. Sounds gross right? Well, I've actually learned to like this stuff. I found that celery is pretty good with salsa. Later on in the evening I had a can of V8 and almonds.

I also jogged that morning.

If you've been following my beef jerky review blog, you can tell I've been cutting back on jerky. Whereas I used to publish a new review every day, it's down to about once or twice a week now. And that's just a reflection of my change of diet.

It might sound like I've given up on meat altogether, but I haven't. I'm just picking and choosing my moments. It's strange. I used to crave beef, ham, pork, and all the red meat stuff, to the point where I've ignored the fruits and vegetables. Now it's the opposite. The last time I had meat was the chef salad last Tuesday.

I still love to eat burgers and steaks, it's just that I don't feel that urge to do so anymore. When I think about what to eat, I think what's good for my body, as opposed to what's good for my taste buds.

Before I started the diet, I obviously knew what was good for my body, it's just that I didn't have the will power to make the right choices.

It's funny that it took me several months of eating nothing but beef jerky, just to lose this much weight, only to end up gaining an appreciation for fruits and vegetables.
