Day 1: Losing 5 Pounds in 5 Days

Weighed in this morning at 155 pounds, down one pound from yesterday.

So yesterday was my first day on my "power diet", attempting to lose 5 pounds in 5 days. Here's a breakdown of what I did...

1. breakfast: whole wheat tortilla, cup of kefir
2. exercises: light weight lifting
3. lunch: blackberries (1 container 170g), green iced tea unsweetened
4. exercises: jogging 1 mile
5. afternoon snack: peas in pods, about 30 pods
6. dinner: can of light tuna in water (6oz), 2 medium tomatoes, 30 grapes

Here's the nutritional breakdown of what I ate...

Calories: 830 (2,000)
Net Effective Calories: 710
Fat: 10.13g (65g)
Carbs: 116.26g (300g)
Net Effective Carbs: (86.26g)
Fiber: 39.91g (25g)
Protein: 69.51g (50g)

(xx) = USDA recommended daily intake)

So my total calories was way under the RDI of 2,000, as well as my fat and carb intake. Meanwhile my fiber and protein was over the RDI.

Also, the only "high fiber" foods I had that day was the Mission Carb Balance whole wheat tortilla (21g) and the blackberries (9g), for a total of 30g of fiber. High fiber foods are those with more than 5g of fiber. Because they are high fiber foods, the fiber does not breakdown into sugars, and are passed out. Therefore, I can subtract them from my total carbs, adjusting it down to 86.26g.

When you consider that each carb translates to 4 calories, I can subtract 120 calories from my total, which effectively becomes 710 actual calories absorbed for the whole day.

So, I'm off to a good start!
