Vitamin D Benefits

Weighed in this morning at 170 pounds, no change from yesterday.

I stuck to the beef jerky diet yesterday, eating 7.5 oz of jerky, two cans of Diet Coke, and two bottles of water, and a Dannon Activia.

I did my walk & jog this morning.

Eric Madrid MD is a friend of mine and he had his book published recently, Vitamin D Prescription: The Healing Power of the Sun & How It Can Save Your Life.

He says 80% of Americans are deficient in Vitamin D. Our bodies manufacture Vitamin D naturally through exposure to the sun. And of course, most of us are not getting enough sun.

So I asked him how much should I be getting?

He says a minimum of 15 minutes a day, with arms and legs exposed, during the hours of 10:00am to 2:00pm, which I presume is the maximum sunshine.

So anyways, I've been doing my jogging in the cooler morning hours, usually between 6:00am to 8:00am. So I thought I'd take advantage of this new piece of advice and start my walk-n-jog at 10:00am. I usually end up taking 30-40 minutes doing this.

And that's what I did this morning. It's quite a bit hotter at that time, considering I live in the inland area of Southern California.

Supposedly, maintaining a healthy balance of Vitamin D will decrease your susceptibility to cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, and lupus. I don't have any of those diseases, so maybe I'm getting enough Vitamin D already?

He says to ask your doctor to check your Vitamin D levels.
