There Are No Tips To Lose Weight

Weighed in this morning at 165 pounds, no change from yesterday.

Yesterday I stuck with the beef jerky diet, 6.5oz of jerky throughout the day, a serving of kefir, 3 bottles of water, 3 bottles of Fruit2O, and a can of Diet Coke. I did my 2-mile jog in the morning, a 1-mile walk in the evening, and 2 sets of sit-ups, push-ups, and crunches.

I also worked on my pool heater yesterday. My goal was to loosen the bolts that held the motor. They were rusted and corroded over from rats peeing on it. I had to go to Lowes to get a couple of tools, but I managed to get that sucker off. Unfortunately, one of the bolts snapped. Either way, the thing is off. Then I called the company who built my pool, to arrange for them to buy a new motor and get it installed.

Yahoo Health ran an article yesterday entitled, "Quick Little Tweaks to Lose Weight Faster", and I have to admit these days when I see titles mentioning weight loss tips, I can't resist.

So I click on the link to read, and pretty much all the tips seemed lame to me. Things like, "run instead of walk", "set a goal", "read the nutrition label", "read a fitness magazine", and "eat a granny smith apple".

Obviously, these are not really tips, this is just fodder to publish another fitness article so that schmucks like me will feel tempted to click through and view the ads.

But what this does tell you is that there is no magical way to lose weight, otherwise we would have heard it by now. Even with my "beef jerky diet", I'm still having to employ discipline to stay on this diet, and exercise everyday. And that's what weight loss comes down to. Do you have the discipline to stick to it?
