It's So Difficult to Lose Weight

Weighed in this morning at 173 pounds, up three from yesterday.

I did my walk-n-jog this morning.

Well, blasted! I was trying to lose two pounds and reach 168 by this morning. Instead I go up three pounds. My wife made spaghetti last night. I had told her that morning I was going to be on my beef jerky diet. Yet, she cooked me spaghetti, and then brought up a plate of it to my office and waved it under my face.

Part of me was upset because I had told her I was staying on my diet that day. But the other part was sympathetic because it's not often that she's feeling well enough to cook. She has some serious health problems that usually leaves her exhausted or nauseated. So I know that she doesn't do this dash my dieting goals; she's doing it because she's happy to feel well, and cooking is one of her favorite ways to express that feeling.

I'd love to have her help me lose weight, by coaching me, or cheering me on, or doing something. I've asked her many times before. But she won't do it. If you knew her, you'd understand. She's very passive in that regards.

So I guess I'm going to have to go through another full week of trying to hit the 168 mark.

What really sucks about weight loss is that I can go five days straight of dieting, exercise, and managing my caloric intake, yet I can't lose a single pound. But just one plate of spaghetti, and I gain three pounds.

Today is another scheduled "non-diet" day, and the day I usually hook up with my friends and ride motorcycles. I'm going to try to stick to a salad, but I'm sure there's a beer for me in the near future.
