Diet Log - June 16, 2008

Weighed in this morning at 198 lbs. Up two pounds from Saturday morning.

Saturday and Sunday was spent on a normal diet. Well, probably more than normal. Saturday had a belly-filling buffet, plus a banana-split later that evening. Sunday was not as bad, just a 16oz rib eye steak, with rice, broccoli, bread, and "bloomin onion" at an Outback Steakhouse.

I'm going to change up the beef jerky diet a bit. I'm now going to eat two-three bags on each of my diet days, instead of just the one. Except I'm going to spread it around, one in the morning, one in the afternoon and/or evening. It'll work out to about 8-12 ounces per day, depending on how big the bags are.

The goal is to keep the metabolism running all day long, and therefore burn more energy.

It's not like my diet plan wasn't working, it was. I just want to see how much better or worse this new plan will do.

I was just wondering what your diet consists of besides jerky? Also, what flavors and brands of jerky are you trying. I'm just curious because I know all about the health benefits of jerky products. Also just wanted to let you know that will be launching around the 1st of July if you were looking for some more jerky to try.

On my non-diet days, I eat just about anything, burgers, pizza, salads, steaks, pretty much a typical American diet. Except that I limit myself to one meal that day, and maybe some snacks in the morning or night.

Right now, I'm buying about 80% of the jerky I review on Best Beef Jerky. I want to bring that down to where more companies are sending me free samples. To produce a comprehensive review, I need at least a 2oz bag of jerky.

Sounds good, how much weight have you lost in the process so far? I find the diet interesting.

My highest weight was 240 pounds. That was about 4 years ago.

The beginning of 2008, I was 230 pounds.

I started the beef jerky diet in March of 2008. At that time, I was about 220 pounds. I then launched this blog the following month, at 211 pounds.

What brought me from 240 down to 220, was controlling the volume of food I ate. It took a few years to train myself to get over the desire. During that time, it was a roller-coaster ride of gaining weight, and losing weight. Eventually, I figured out that what caused the most weight gain was boredom. When I get bored, I eat. So, I try to keep myself busy as often as possible.

I started the beef jerky diet because I wanted to make my dieting plan a little more scientific than just controlling food volume. And, I love beef jerky. I created the beef jerky review blog because I'm hoping to get more free beef jerky from manufacturers.
