Diet Log - Apr 27, 2008

motorcycle ridersI weighed in at 215 lbs this morning. That's up another 2 lbs from the last diet log on Friday.

I wasn't able to stick with the beef jerky diet on that day like I said I would. A chef salad kept beckoning me, and the cherry coke broke my resistance. But that was all I ate that day, and I still managed to get some walking exercise in by taking the dogs out.

Saturday morning, I actually did weigh in at 212 lbs, a pound lighter. And I did walk the dogs again.

That day I actually went riding motorcycles with some friends, and had lunch at a BBQ place in Big Bear. I also ended up buying some beef jerky at Smokey's Beef Jerky, which I had heard was really good. It turned out the beef jerky was not sold in oxygen-free packages, meaning I had to eat this right away, or else it was going to dry out and lose its freshness. So I ended up basically having two meals that day.

And I didn't exercise on Saturday either.

Today, Sunday, the wife and I are celebrating her birthday at her favorite restaurant. So as far as losing weight is concerned, it's been a bad week. Here's to next week!

Stumbled across your blog. I have been on an all beef jerky diet for slightly over three weeks during which time I have lost 19 pounds. I have between 2.5 and 4 ounces of beef jerky three times a day. Only buy jerky that is 80 or less calories per ounce. Largest single purchase of jerky over the three weeks was six pounds (just ordered on-line another six pounds). I do eat flavored jerky but only if it complies with the 80 calories or less rule. Eating out-- I have been to 4 charity/community dinners over the three weeks. Each time I only ate the meat course and if possible ordered the meat with out any sauces added. I have fallen of the wagon a few times but have recovered after one or two bites. Snack- large dill pick spears- 5 calories per spear. Plenty of water and diet soda. Expect to start exercising this week. I believe I can drop 15 more pounds in May with exercise.

Congrats John. If you can, try to look for jerky that's free of "sodium nitrite", or "nitrite free". That stuff is bad for the body, particular when we eat so much jerky.

I'm going to add a category to my beef jerky review blog, that shows all the nitrite-free jerky.
